Urban Bling Series - 2019-21

Urban Bling represents the overt outer striving of humanity. In our attempt to improve our life experience we tend to accumulate objects which are essentially meaningless. They are bright and shiny and have a perceived value. They are sold to us en masse, producing a feeling that we are missing out if we do not keep up with trends. These bright and shiny objects are juxtaposed with both natural objects and environments which have fallen into degradation. There is a beauty in all of these things. The plasticky new things, natures simple complexity, and the patina of rust and graffiti. The semi-transparent straight lines of the background are made of multiple layering and depict my personal need for calm at the time.
