Small Paintings
Most of these paintings have been created alongside other larger paintings and series. You can see the changing themes, the trials, the signatures from the different eras. Some are more imaginative and surreal as I seek to convey ideas of magical ideas and creation. Others are careful studies, working to get exactly the right light, reflections and give honour to the beauty of the objects as each one carries its own inner light, its own story.
Balancing Objects. A study with a crystal, a marble, a strong healing rock found in Devonport, and an amazing tiny seaweed found along one of Tasmania's southern beaches.

Cosmic Shell Story. This is going back to the beginning of time, when the angels were creating designs being inspired by shapes and colours and patterns. And thus, all shells were dreamed of and created.

Colour Study with Crystal. After a visit to our brilliant Tasmanian art gallery, MONA, I took photos of some of the artworks and buildings. I used the colours, edited the photos, but used the close-up details. I especially love shiny things and try to incorporate bling whenever I can into my artworks.

Creation Shell Story. You can see the idea of shells emerging from the magic of energy and cosmic dust and sensual ideas. The are brought forth in all of their variety, each one loved and intricately thought out.

Cufflink Study. This cufflink was crafted my friend, Tasmanian maker and creative, Kate Judson. Many Tasmanians have a strong affinity with recycling, as we live so closely with nature, we appreciate what we have in our pristine surroundings. Many of us actively shun buying new, we minimise our plastics use, and we get creative making and recycling, crafting and sewing. Kate made many jewellery pieces from thrown out motherboards and other E-waste into fabulous wearable designs.

Fun-Infused Shell Amulet. I practice attraction magic and experiment with how to spread love, joy, and all of the good vibes. In this case, I wore this piece of shell on a night out, with the intention that the shell would receive of my joy and energy of the evening. Magic can be done in many ways, but intention is key. Once an object receives an intention, it becomes an amulet, no longer an ordinary item. It holds magical power or ability. Then as I painted the amulet, I practiced infusing the same fun and joy into the painting! The end result is this bright but measured image, both held and free. Both stable and shimmering. May it bring the owner joy by transference and intention!

Linear Landscape. I used to paint a lot of landscapes when I first came to Tasmania. The colours glow under a silvery light. You can usually see the far-off blue hues, green fields and trees, and then red leaves, flowers and soil close to you. It's a wonderful gradation and I found it very healing to paint in long lines of colour at the time. With this painting the joy was also in the interplay between the layers of paint, revealing peeks of underlying colours.

Shell Dance. These shells are broken but beautiful. It's almost as if what they have been through, the swings and tides, the crashing and bashing of the ocean, has served only to make them more intriguing, more fascinating, revealing more of their underlying strengths. Here they dance.
